The annual spring sandstorms are with us in Moray. At this time
of year, the combination of bare earth in the fields and strong
winds often results in earth and sand being blown about,
sometimes in quantities sufficient to affect visibility and
cause a hazard on the road.
Here's hoping either that the winds will drop, or that the
vegetation will sprout quickly. Preferably the former.
In the Cambridgeshire fens, where the phenomenon used to be very common,
the solution seems to be autumn planting, particularly of cereal crops.
It's now very unusual to see a "fen blow".
