It's the word "depression" that threw me.
A decent depression is far from lacklustre. I think I would rather watch a game of tiddlywinks than a bunch of grown men running around kicking -or in the case of the English national side, passing around an overstuffed bladder.

Apparently they don't get paid for it. Maybe if they were offered something (a few hundred thousand pounds each perhaps for every 90 odd minutes they are prepared to spend on a field being watched by idiots...) they might feel a little bit more involved.

Not that I care.
