Default Sir Piers on December: "Undoubtedly the most exciting weather month for some years!"

If there is any substantial snowfall in that period outside high ground in
the north I shall be astonished. In fact - at least for the southern half
of the UK - the weather looks like being positively benign for the time of
year, with nothing worse than a little fog and frost. I see you've quoted
the Daily Express in support of Pier's forecast, which smacks of
desperation.

Well actually models are now showing some unusually deep cold air in the
Atlantic for the time of year as it blows off Arctic Canada. When the west
wind starts to get 850 temps -5C behind cold fronts then you have to start
thinking of snow on low ground in the north and on high ground in the south.
This is from next weekend onwards after the weak meridional extension.
