I remember reading, possibly in Gordon Manley's "Climate and the British
Scene" that it's very rare for air to reach us that originated from
Siberia, ie east of the Urals, and the usual source for our winter
easterlies is either European Russia or the north European plain (ie
Germany or Poland).
