I am inclined to think that Stansted as well suffers from readings that are
a degree too low.

Well, I was based at Stansted until I retired just over six years ago. I
can tell you, when I did the outside check on the aircraft, it always seemed
bl--dy cold to me and I certainly had no reason whatsoever to doubt those
readings:-)
However, for sheer misery in the cold at 0600 hours on a winter's morning,
Glasgow takes some beating. But it was all worth it when you saw the
sunrise an hour or so later. Of all the things I miss since retiring, I
would say sunrise from 29,000 feet is perhaps the greatest loss. Sunrise is
never quite the same at sea level. (The green flash is much rarer for a
start).
