Dried out in the pub and by 1400 the sun was
coming out and could still see a reasonable snow cover on the high moor
above 500 metres.
Hameldown Tor (529m) to the East overlooks Warren House Inn. I've run to
the summit many times from Bovey Castle when I have stayed there.
You must be super fit!
Unfortunately when I went to the pub there was a coach load of Norwegian
tourists there so there was barely even standing room.
Yes it's a lovely spot in summer. Sit outside the pub viewing the
Dartmoor panorama. The Hameldown ridge is a superb walk, done it many
times in all weathers.

I see the maximum in Plymouth was 9.7C today. Shows what a difference
your altitude makes.

9.4C in Penzance, unusual to see Plymouth warmer at this time of year, but we had showers streaming in all day. 15.4mm in the 24 hours to 09:00 today, min of 4.9C last night. It's been a very wet middle third of the month
Out on Scilly the mean temperature (not mean max) is still an above average (even for them) 9.0C. THe SST at Sevenstones is still around 11C, (the norm is around 8.5C) higher than I've ever seen it at this time of year, that is certainly having an effect in both temperature and shower intensity.
