I was quite surprised at how warm it felt when leaving the house this
morning at 09:00. It was 11.3C and the sun was shining, the thrush was
singing and it was more like a March morning rather than late January!

Then it all went downhill!

Hardly any rain fell (if at all on some) from the succession of fronts
that moved through adding up to 0.8 mm and it turned windy for a while
though the maximum gust was only 32 mph at 11:50.

Not as sunny as recently but still managed nearly 2 hours this afternoon.

Just had a short (20 seconds) rain shower at 19:40. Temperature has
dropped like a stone as there is no wind at the moment and the stars are
shining.

(19:57), 2.3C, RH 92%, DP 1.1C, 1006 hPa (F), Wind calm.

No wind!, blimey a different world here today then. Take a look http://www.sennen-cove.com/today2.htm. A blown out with a big ground sea and the air full of spray.

The shape of the peninsula means that NW winds are normally stronger to the west of Camborne/Redruth than you might expect by the synoptic charts. (The reverse tends to be true in a SW)

Very little rain in numerical terms (1mm since dawn) but it has been travelling near horizontally. At Land's End the mean speed's been up to F8 with gusts well 50mph, 40mph even in Penzance. Gusts well 60mph on the Island, St Ives.

It's felt very raw.
