The shape of the peninsula means that NW winds are normally stronger to
the west of Camborne/Redruth than you might expect by the synoptic
charts. (The reverse tends to be true in a SW)
Very little rain in numerical terms (1mm since dawn) but it has been
travelling near horizontally. At Land's End the mean speed's been up to
F8 with gusts well 50mph, 40mph even in Penzance. Gusts well 60mph
on the Island, St Ives.
It's felt very raw.
