You think France is warmer. Check out this week's temps in the Millevaches (Limousin), numbingly cold and quite snowy too!
Thinking of retiring there, like UK but a bit more extreme at the warm and cold ends.
Maybe Portugal then. I speak a bit of that.
Trouble is, are there any reasonably well-paid jobs for an environmental
scientist there?
T'missus might take some convincing to move.... and I would miss the
Devon spring and summers.
I spent a good part of the winter a few years back in Lisbon. It wasn't
wall-to-wall sunshine every day and it rained a lot but there were many
days with lots of sunshine and in the early afternoon it was around 16C
and you could sit outside in short-sleeves and enjoy a cold beer.
The extra intensity and warmth of the sun light immediately hit me and
it felt good. Getting into the car in the morning when it had been left
in the sunshine, it was hot and you had to wind the windows down. I'd
never experienced that before in early January!
