Well Ken, it would be great if it could last a bit longer! 9C @ 09:00
at your location in February, and under cloudless skies, must be very
unusual?

It must also be very rare for Penzance to be colder than Copley, as it
seems that it was around 8 or 9am. Is there a whacking great inversion
that Copley is above?

Inversion could be the answer, or warmer air aloft being brought down by the lee wave? Although Great Dun Fell didn't show anything unusual today. It was warm up there over the weekend:-

Highest temperatures now are certainly over this side of the Pennines
11.4C high here but some of the lower sites in the Vales of Durham and York have overtaken us now. They were much colder than us at the 09Z ob.

Eventual max of 11.3C here Ken, highest since 11.7C on 14th Jan, so unusually very similar to you.

Still sunny, the thin and broken Sc sheet still hasn't made it across from the north coast. It's made it a fair bit chillier this afternoon over at Camborne though, where it's now down to near 7C.
