Default 1929 - Whitstable sea freezes over

I was down at Whitstable today and noticed on the wall at the fish market
the following story:

"On 15th February 1929 the sea froze, one of several occasions when this
occurred. As the oyster beds lay some 2 miles off the coast the crews has
to walk across the frozen sea to their boats." - which I thought was quite
impressive.

Are there any statistics anywhere of the sea freezing round our Isles (and
its extent?) - I'm aware of this happening in 1963.

Certainly on this (1929) occasion it was a cold one: -15c 850mb
temperatures or less over the Southern North Sea:
