It seems to have been Jim Cannon who first revived the thread. I suspect
that he didn't realise that he was responding to a post from 2012, at
any rate I'd like to think so. Those using Google Groups often seem to
be caught like that. (Having said that, I originally didn't notice that
the thread was three years old either.)
