When everybody else around me at school were all into modern romantic
'trendy' music or Goth, I stayed true to the faith and Black Sabbath,
Deep Purple, Led Zep, Pink Floyd etc were my albums of choice. I was a
decade out.
I saw Ozzy play at the NEC in the early 90s (I think). The stage was a
huge set of stairs and at the top was a propped up coffin with smoke and
demonic music playing all around, the coffin lid slowly opened and Ozzy
(looking like Dracula) was 'sleeping' in it.
He opened his eyes and stepped out of the coffin and started singing
'Crazy Train'. Hilarious stuff.
My ears have never fully recovered as it was sooooooo loud.
Afterwards he ran around the stage throwing buckets of cold water at the
crowd.
Keeping on OT, the weather was hot and inside the arena it was beyond
hot. Having buckets of cold water chucked at you every few minutes was
quite a relief in the heat.
