nothing on the radar this time, it's all too fine.

It's not the droplet size - it's the fact that the rain is forming and
falling below the radar beam, so it wouldn't show on the output.

Unlike earlier when the raindrops intersected the radar beam giving the
appearance of a solid rain area , but there was a dry layer beneath the
rain-bearing cloud which enabled evaporation of most of the rain before
it reached ground level - hence your experience of a largely dry day.

It is interesting that you experienced two situations in the same day
whereby care was needed in the interpretation of the radar output.

On the Atlantic coastal fringe the fine, low level drizzle which avoids the radar is not an uncommon occurrence.

We only had 0.7mm in the 24 hours to 09:00 today. Locally, last nights highest wind speeds and strongest gusts were generally similar, or just below the values recorded Sunday morning.

Taking Land's End as an example.
Sunday Max Mean Speed 48mph. Max Gust 61mph
Last night Max Mean Speed 43mph Max Gust 56mph

My site saw a maximum gust of 46mph compared to 45mph on Sunday, but my exposure varies significantly with wind direction.

Much quieter currently. The same can't be said for the sea, the swell size is now approaching 18' off Land's End.
