I know what you mean about representative stations, here in the SW of
England we always get lumped in with Plymouth most of the time as
representative for the whole peninsula which is often not the case.

There are no observing sites on Dartmoor. So, if you look on the UKMO site
and ask for a sequence of observations from Princetown you get Plymouth
Mountbatten (nearest site), far better would be to say "no data" and admit
the fact that there are no sites on Dartmoor. The site forecasts from the
high res model for Princetown are generally good.
