You can see it on the forecast charts leaving North Africa at T+96 and at present, it's
forecast to affect the UK at the start of July.
It's under my 10-day forecasting radar and these forecast plumes do have a tendency to be
shifted eastwards when they get as far north as the UK, nearer the outcome time (i.e. to
'topple'), but if the charts stay the same, we could see temperatures of 30C+ in the south at
the start of next month.
And over 40C in southern Spain by the end of this week and into next week.
Cannot remember when the last time 582dm was forecast over spain http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack4.gif
I wonder if it's that rare. The record for southern England is 573 or 574 dam so 582, "the purple line", should not be too exceptional for Spain.. Besides, thicknesses over Spain are artificially enhanced a little by the fact that much of Spain is quite elevated and acts as a high-level heat source, cf Tibet, western USA. Spain is just about big enough for this effect to show.
