After a chilly night for the tip of Cornwall (Min 10.9C) a very still
morning with a glassy sea - the 1st time I've been able to say that for a
while.
You can see here that it was caused by the Jet Stream :-)

We are just NW of the frontal cloud, so good sunny spells this morning.
Waves running along the front causing the high cloud to just clip the sun
at times. The 1st signs of a NE setting in now (noon)
The breakwater picture here http://www.sennen-cove.com/index.htm brings
back memories of jumping of the breakwater 50 years ago, some things never
change.
(Given that the depressing ongoing cold radiation topic now has 192 posts,
when everything that needed to be said was said quite clearly in the 1st
19, I thought that including it in the subject line might get more people
to read a weather post).
Sorry about that! I knew that cold radiation existed, but I thought the only
way to find out why was to have it out with Dawlish. What I did not know was
that everyone else, like Dawlish, was convinced it did not exist too.
Initially, I thought I would get support from some quarter :-(
But it is sorted out now, to my satisfaction at least. See my latest reply
to Martin in the Pictet thread - no need to go through those 192 posts.
Let's hope it does not reach 200 :-)
Cheers, Alastair.
