The old Prolific chipsets don't have drivers for Win8 either AFAIK (I think
that any driver that works under Win8 should also work under Win10 and vice
versa). The problem is that just saying Prolific doesn't really define the
chipset - I think there are at least two sets of Prolific chipsets (very
possibly 2) and while there may well be Win8/10 drivers for more recent
ones, these don't necessarily work for the older chipsets eg as were used in
the Davis 8434 adapters. That's why I prefer FTDI - they do seem to be able
to maintain both chipset and driver compatibility over time.
