I can remember at least one from twenty-plus years ago when an

1968 was a crap Summer in the SE but I've no memory of what the Bank
Holiday was like. I see that year, the Bank Holiday Monday was 2nd
September and the situation that day looks a bit better than today for
the SE but, with a depression just to the west of Ireland, I doubt it
was a great day for the country as a whole.
We had some of the worse flooding I can remember in September 1968 here
in Southend-on-Sea.
