Default Any experts on Leeds weather?

I need some advice from local weather experts in Leeds area please? I would
like to know whether Leeds gets affected by lee gustiness in a strong SW
airflow so I can advise my daughter who lives in NE Leeds. Looking at the
charts it is looking quite serious for northern England on Saturday with a
stable flow and geostrophic winds in excess of 80 knots. I know Ken (and
Sheffield) has problems in a westerly, but SW'ly to the east of the
Pennines?

Will, I think you'll find that Leeds is affected by funnelling of wind from Wharfedale, but this would be from a NW direction, not a SW one and not likely to affect NE Leeds, I would have thought.
In terms of Lee wave, I think it unlikely from the local topography and a SW perspective, a Westerly might be a different proposition. I think the lee waves tend to affect areas slightly to the East of Leeds as well, so would depend on exact location.

Don't quote me on that, I'm hardly an expert and probably talking rubbish. But I'm keen!
