Default Big Sea this morning - Pics

After a few days with a rough sea but little real swell, only 6' or so even
at Sevenstones this time yesterday, a big change this morning.

A few pics (excuse the quality, they were taken on a mobile, in very low
light in conditions when the mobile & intrepid photographer were dripping
wet with salt spray)
http://www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/psea.html The large building on the
headland is approx 110' above msl. It was 2 hours after high tide and the
beach rarely out in an appearance between sets, not a storm surge, just wave
setup.

The waves were still only around one third the height achieved in 2013/2014
(About 14' at Sevenstones today, compared with 35' on occasion then) and
the period today was short, only around 10 secs. I'm sure Norman knows the
difference in power between the 35' 15 sec waves in Jan 2014, and the
current 14' 10 sec wave (at the same location) but I would guess today's
wave only has around 10% of the power.

Oh, the forecast visibility for Porthleven at the time the photos were taken
was very good.

I see many are finding the weather boring. Well I find shattering
temperature records very interesting, and watching the sea conditions even
more fun than going to Morrisons, which was the alternative!

Good for you. But up here the temperature is no great shakes, it is not
record breaking. A max. of 11.7C is nowhere near a record. Plus the
incessant gloom, drizzle again now, makes for a very un-inspiring weather
situation. Ok perhaps the sea is interesting, but give me weather
variability any day, persistent tropical maritime day after day after day is
boring - full stop.
