Down in Mousehole a couple of cars were left on the pier, and totally written off. It's hard to feel sorry when the people were warned, but they don't appreciate the damage that can be done by water. I was in Mousehole today, and I understand one car was a company car driven by a chap who was only starting work with the company tomorrow! After the 1st high tide it filled up with water, and attempts to remove it near low water failed as the waterlogged electrics made it impossible to release the electronic handbreak. The next high tide a few boulders finished it off.

That reminds me of the visitors that leave their cars parked along the
normally busy Esplanade in Sidmouth. The fact that the locals have
removed their own cars and therefore, there are loads of parking spaces
should ring a bell with the non-locals. But alas they nearly always end
up with a pebble-dashed car as the sea kicks up the pebbles and throws
them at force onto the Esplanade.

Damn dangerous to walk along there too during a southerly gale,
especially without a hard hat.
