Works fine for me with just a standard desktop running win.xp and
no additional fancy whistles & bells.

I run Windows 8.1 on my laptop. Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome all
come up with an error and don't show the graph. :-(

Here are a few more details on how it works for me on four different
viewers:
FF brings up a panel giving the option to open the document (with
Okular as the default application) or save it.
Chromium just pops up with a "save as" window.
Qupzilla's pop-up window says it's an unknown file and offers a choice
of "open..." or "save file" buttons.
Konqueror offers the same options as FF.
So all of them work as they should although Chromium is the least
user-friendly of the bunch in not offering an "open..." button. That
might just be down to my settings though I can't see an alternative
setting.
