I think you are probably right, it just looks too high at almost 15°C.
The temperature at Valentia at midnight was only 11.0°C at a similar height (772 m).

It certainly rules out any possibility of skiing for the next week at Weardale.

It certainly rules out skiing for now! It's a very changeable spell atm, so I expect the snow will soon return there.
