Short walk for the dog, turned to go uphill to 400 metres but was
assaulted by a force 7 and horizontal heavy rain. Dogs tail went down
and we ended up doing a very short local circuit. Postbridge now up to
52mm and Haytor 21mm. Wind howling down the chimney. Height and exposure
is making a huge difference. Regarding the water table the patio is
still very wet but the water cannot physically go over my doorstep as it
then flows away down hill (goodness knows where to). Lots of reports of
flooding coming in on Radio Devon now and with another 18 hours or so of
rain, things are not going to improve. Another thing I have noticed on
the increase locally in the past two years is the use of sandbags
outside drives etc. One neighbour lower down in Haytor Vale has even
gone to the expense of having a complete new drain fitted, water now
flows away nicely down a footpath and then into a stream instead of into
their house! :-)

Only 1.6 mm of rain today here. Most of the day there was just the odd
spot in the breeze, nothing much at all.

The sun even managed to shine just after sunrise giving a bright orange
fiery sky.

Temperature has been around 11C to 12C for most of the day.

Monthly total a rather wetter than average 107.6 mm.
