Sometimes 140 characters are not enough...(and the end recipient
probably doesn't understand - harsh?).

There are several systems for posting messages longer than 140 chars on
Twitter. Some split the long message into a sequence of Twitter
messages whilst others provide a link to the full message.
In addition to those, you can post a long message on FB and have it
automatically forwarded to Twitter where, after the start of the
original, there'll be a link back to the full message on FB.
Or you could just use FB instead of Twitter. ;-)
