I will be surprised if I see a gust like that here again for some
considerable time including today (highest so far have been 27 to 29
mph) although I now have a new 2 year highest 10 minute mean of 12 mph
(don't laugh!) as of 12:30pm.

Last night at the time of that 39 mph gust, my highest mean speed was
a mere 11 mph, quite a difference.

So I now have a new '2 year' highest gust figure last night at 23:06
in a squall as the cold front went over - 39 mph on the VP2;

- and a second '2 year' highest 10 minute mean of 13 mph at 13:51 this
afternoon. Highest gust was 33 mph this afternoon so last night's was
stronger.

Garden fence is at a weird angle now but just about stayed upright in
spite of broken posts, starting to ease off now. Anemometer at 3m,
housing estate back garden.
