A poor forecast from the Met Office today. I was expecting a thoroughly wet afternoon here in the SW, but the BBC forecast both at Breakfast time and at 1.25pm seem to have overdone the rain not just here in the SW but also Wales judging by the latest Weather radar. I reckon I could have got the washing dry now instead of using the tumbler.
It was, indeed, a poor forecast. I cancelled golf today due to the forecast of
heavy rain by 1300. So far (1420) we've had just a couple of spits in the wind
so it looks like it would have been OK for golf. We would have finished by about
1500. The current forecast is predicting heavy rain by 1500 but even that is
looking a bit unlikely.
The automated forecast for Tideswell and the human-produced forecast for the
Peak District this morning were both predicting wet weather from soon after
midday so it does seem that the model must have had a bit of a wobbly :-(
