With the exception of 17th January there was no snow cover in Sheffield throughout the winter of 2015-16. Even this snow was almost all gone by late morning. I cannot remember a winter with quite as few snow days. There was also a brief snow cover back in November and I am sure spring with provide some interesting moments. One thing that was different this winter compared to other mild winters is the lack of snow up on the Peaks where I would usually head off to get my snow fix.

Yes, Simon, there's been hardly any snow in Tideswell this winter. The deepest
we've had here is 4-5cm on 17th Jan. Rather surprisingly, these's been 17 days
with sleet or snow falling during February but the most on the ground was 3cm on
the 3rd.
Nevertheless, the month is ending on a wintry note. There's been sleet falling
since about 2030 with the temp steadily falling from 2.8 at that time to 1.8 at
the moment (2145).
