I just been looking at the Davis station gust speeds overnight, the two
highest I have found are West Wittering beach at 74knot and Prawle
Point, Devon at 70knot. There was a 61knot gust on the beach at Hove.

Quite windy here as well but nothing exceptional.

According to the BBC, there was a gust of 106 mph at The Needles in the
Isle of Wight, which I make 92 knots. To Carol Kirkwood's credit, she
made a point of saying that this was a very exposed location, and that
maximum gusts inland had been more like 50-60 mph.

I should have added that there was some sleet this morning, temperaturehad
dropped to 3C.
