It was a notable month in Tideswell, too. The mean max of 23.3 was 3.4 deg above
average. 183 hours of sun was 138% of average. Perhaps the most striking feature
of the month was the very skewed rainfall distribution. The first 3 weeks of the
month produced almost no rain at all then it poured down during the last 10
days, making it the wettest July I have recorded here, with a total of 170 mm.
Most remarkable of all was 89 mm of rain falling in 8 hours during the night of
27th/28th.
Similar rainfall pattern here too with only 1.9 mm falling in the first
24 days (no rain at all from the 4th to the 24th) then 10.3 mm on the
25th and rain then fell on 4 of the 6 final days of the month. Though in
this case the rainfall was mostly light and patchy and the monthly total
ended up at 28.6 mm.
