Why is it that most cities have bus routes that are in a radial pattern,
with the central point being the city centre?

If I want to get to a place on the same side of the city, I have to go
into the city centre and then come back out again.

It'll be much better with some circular routes joining together the
radial routes to give a spider web pattern. It would make for quicker
journeys on the same side of the city.
