Interesting. Looks partially down to convergence of the low-level
flow along the north coast. Plus some dynamical descent moving
from ENE to WSW clearing the cloud - looks too fast for advection
of low-level drier air, and the vector is wrong too.

Yes, I rather thought it was convergence along the north coast. I really mentioned it to see what ideas were put forward.

There has been a NW sea breeze right on the north coast, but struggling to get beyond the shore, apart from in the Hayle area, where there are no cliffs to block it. The wind has remained generally SE at John Chappell's Land's End site (which is actually nearer Gwennap Head - just to the SSE)

Now 13 days without measurable rain. 4 more days (which seems quite likely) and it'll be the longest dry spell since September 2014. (24 days).
