Have a look at my post "from the ashes..."
If you or anyone else wants to join I promise that I'll moderate it,
apply
the rules and add content that I publish in my own blog (well the ones
about
weather and climate). If I don't get a dozen members in the first month
then
I know it's been a big mistake which I'm sure it is.
This is a bit (a tiny bit) like the film Field of Dreams - build it and
they
will come - realistically after the response from the group so far (which
I
fully expected) I don't think a new group like "weather and climate"
would
ever take off. The only strength is its simplicity and the resolve of its
membership to make it work. It's certainly got the first one!

Good luck Bruce. Have to say that Dawlish tried to set up a forum a few
years ago "Totally weather and Climate" (or something like that) and it
failed miserably.
I still do not see the need for it as there are already established fora
out
there with teams of moderators UKWW, TWO, NetWeather etc etc. Also a word
of
advice, moderating will be a full-time commitment 24/7, be very very sure
before you embark on this. You could of course set up a group where posts
are only released after moderation (like UKMO) but then it doesn't
"move".

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't realised that Dawlish had tried it, what a
strange forum that would be? Global warming deniers barred! And that's got
me thinking how do I deal with that kind of topic!
Hi Bruce, Dawlish did it in a cunning way. he had a friend who was a
sceptic, I hate the word "denier" ,and they had chats in the forum. It kinda
worked.

It worked for about a week then two things became obvious. Firstly that neither of them knew much about the nitty-gritty of meteorology and secondly that there was nobody else in the house. And who on earth is going to join a group led by Dawlish of all people? He simply wanted to exercise control, this being his nature.
But Bruce doesn't labour under any of these faults so I will give it a go.
