Spot on as ever Len. I'm afraid there are other nasty things creeping
into some arguments along the lines that education is bad as it leads to
the elitist liberal middle classes. I've generally found they are the
ones doing the most to try and raise standards for the poorer in society
than your average business led UKIP and Tory person. Wasn't it a similar
anti-professional/expert/educated attitude that led to the burning of
books, killing musicians, artists etc by the Khmer Rouge and Maoist China?

The working class as a long history of self education, it was a
Christian working class self taught man that set up the workers’
education association at the start of the 20th century.

The middle class liberals are self-congratulatory, they think they are
above anyone else because they do good works. Their good works are
mostly socialist bull****.

A major split in the labour party happened in the 1980's; the working
class didn’t want to be politically correct stooges for the middle class
liberals, so the middle class liberals courted the middle class
conservatives with new labour. New labour was a wholly middle class
party, espousing free market capitalist economic polices for the middle
class conservatives, but also espousing politically correct social
policies directed towards immigrants and gays for the middle class
liberals.


The final nail in the coffin for the labour party happened in the
1990's, with the rout of working class labour MPs being deselected to be
replaced with middle class liberal Mps.

New labour used the working class as voter fodder, As Mendelson said,
“The working class have no where else to go”. The cat was let out of
the bag with Gordon Brown PM, said that bigoted woman about Gillian
Duffy. The modern labour party see the working class as bigoted
people, be it racist, sexist or homophobic. This is why the labour
party as become a middle class liberal protest party. The working class
have become disenfranchised from the political system, but it doesn’t
matter to the middle class, because the middle class liberals see the
working class as bigots, while the middle class conservatives see the
working class as chavs and yobs.


Jonathan Rose put it as, “The gradual shift in the labour party ‘from a
working-class self-educated leadership to a middle-class
university-educated leadership brought with it a shift from economic
protest to cultural protest”
