Just onshore at Penzance - max 24.6C so far.

Warmest day of the year to date with a maximum of 27.0C here and with a DP of
21.0C at the same time, it felt very warm and humid.

UV down on previous days with 'just' 7.9.

We really could do with some rain but looking at the long range forecast it
seems that here in the deep south, there's none on offer for the next week at
least.

The garden grass has gone from green to brown in under a week and the hills
out back are now turning brown too. This part of Devonshire is no longer the
lush, pastoral landscape it normally is.

As always, Nick, we live on different planets! I've never seen the Peak
District as lush and green in mid-July as it is this year. The greenkeepers on
the golf course are struggling to keep the growth in check. The farmers are
having a bumper crop of grass for winter feed. The very wet June has been
largely responsible.
