Tide's on the bank now, so no good for bodyboarders until evening when it
drops a bit.
What I like about Cornwall, is the way people use the beaches when it rains.
It rather demonstrates how, certainly on the north coast, people come for
the watersports, not lying down & getting burnt. I was in Torquay for a
couple of days last year, as soon is it turned dull the beach was deserted.
Thie difference is stark.

OTOH I come to Cornwall to walk. Rain, wind, sun makes no difference, it's
all good. I hate going into water, unless I am in a dinghy or bigger boat!
Lying on a beach all day would my idea of total boredom, although some
decent scenery makes a bit of a difference :-)

Yes, scenery is important.
I remember when my mate Mike S was a lifeguard at Sennen. He used to spend quiet moments when the sea was calm using his binoculars to bring the scenery into view. This could lead to providing invites to the evening beach BBQ, or to Skewjack. The original 1970s brochure

I remember taking my now wife to Skewjack just after I met her London.
Those were the days.
