Please don't assume that Southend is typical of the SE as a whole. We
didn't have an awful lot of rain in my part of Surrey, but it was
certainly far more than a trace.
Must admit, I almost put money on it even though we had Heavy rain
forecast for 8 and 9am according to the Met Office.
Won't be until October before we see any useable rain here I reckon.
If you live just up the coast from Shoeburyness, by repute the driest
place in Britain, then I'm afraid you are going to have to expect this.
