Default West Cornwall, Wind, Rain, Calm & sensational surf!

Some strong winds just behind the depression here, E.g a 58kt gust at St Ives.

However, the main thing was the rain. 35.8mm in the 24 hours to 09:00, of which virtually all fell in 12 hours from 14:00 yesterday.

With the frequently unstable air over above normal SSTs has given west Cornwall a very wet month, with a fair bit of hail (and thunder in the early hours of yesterday). A dangler dropped around 40mm on 5th/6th, when places just a few miles either side got very little. This all means the total rainfall for November so far is 143.9mm. Looking at Roger's rainfall so far this month, Penzance is pretty much top of the list http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/sumr.jpg .

However, the really exciting thing were this mornings surfing conditions. A fairly typical Atlantic swell came up against the near calm conditions, meaning conditions on the reefs were likely to be perfect, and they certainly were. Porthleven was packed with surfers coming from far & wide, Bristol & beyond. Bright & mild as well as near calm. Plenty of cooked breakfasts being sold.

Pics - worth a look. http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/PLS.html

As well as a lot of rain tomorrow, the NNE wind could be of note on the tip of Cornwall. Scilly forecast shows mean speeds 30mph again http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...ime=1479686400.

Very interesting times
