As the bathymetric part of the model processed at the NOC, Southampton
is pretty fixed, then relevant to a weather thread, as the main initial
conditions feed must be the meteorology.
Does anyone know if the NOC or EA has to pay the MetO for a feed of
data, or whether a free Metar/Taf feed?
Then if someone fails to pay the bill or quibbles , then the NTSLF surge
predictor craps out, 2 or 3 times a year.
The National tide-gauge sytem also craps out at times, but only for one
tide cycle or so, not for days on end. With all the xmas nonsense , the
NTSLF is likely to be out for a week or more. At least very low
astronimic tides for this period of the end of December.
I imagine Canvey Islanders and others in the Thames Estuary, including
the Thames barrage operators would like to know what they have in store
for 26 Dec with all that wind blowing in the top of the North Sea.
do the Dutch have a surge predictor system , with public outputs?
