Very nice, Norman. I always so this but it is amazing what a difference in
depth 300m can make. Less than 0.5cm of frozen now on my lawn this morning at
18m. And it is not like we didn't have the rain: I recorded 19.7mm.
It's the 2-3 deg difference in temperature between 300m and low-lying areas
that's crucial, e.g. see

With so many snow events in this country being very maginal temperature-wise,
that 2-3 deg difference often represents the difference between snow at 300m
and rain at lower levels.
