The National Hurricane Center is now tracking two tropical storms
churning toward the Central Pacific.

Tropical Storm Miriam is about 1,230 miles east of Hilo, moving west
near 13 mph.
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, the storm had maximum sustained winds near 60 mph.
The current forecast track has it heading north-northwest, and some
gradual strengthening is expected through Thursday before it starts to
weaken.
The other cyclone forecasters are tracking closely: Tropical Storm Norman.
The National Hurricane Center said Norman was 455 miles southwest of the
southern tip of Baja California, Mexico on Tuesday evening, or about
2,699 miles from Hilo.
