You must be aware that UK produces only about 2% of CO2 emissions. Without agreeing or disagreeing whether man made global warming is a fact surely, whatever UK does, will not make the slightest difference. Ask China and India to cut down emissions and you could be in business.
The west has been clever in exporting most of our manufacturing and associated CO2 output to China, then we can blame them. In addition most of our recycling ends up in Malaysian landfill.

Still, as long as recycling collection targets are met, who cares.
Anyway, grand schemes like the new nuclear plant, HS2, crossrail, means we are doing are utmost to generate huge amounts of CO2 via cement production, rapidly becoming a major part of CO2 emissions.
Still we gave £6m to save the Amazon rainforests, so that'll make a big difference to the rapidly disappearing CO2 plughole.
Sadly, I think the fight against climate change has probably been lost. It was good to see on the local BBC Spotlight news a group of posh schoolkids being congratulated on their achievements, making money by gambling on stock exchange fossil fuel shares. Great stuff, we should all be proud.
