Sunshine and cloud in roughly equal measure today, varying between
1 and 7 oktas. The most noticeable feature is the wind and judging
by the state of the sea, I wouldn't want to be on a cross-Channel
ferry right now. Up on St. Catherine's Hill (777 feet amsl) at
midday, I recorded a mean wind speed of 35KT with gusts to 47KT
on my handheld anemo, a full gale.
Visibility is good but the coastline appears 'washed out', probably
due to sea spray.
RH 67%. Strong westerly breeze. Max temp so far today 16.8
