Martin, you're nearly the lowest in the UK ... 3.3mm at Bognor, but
I'm a bit suspicious of the 1.5mm on the 22nd there.
Philip, I have hi-res copies of hourly radar imagery for that date and
it's reasonably consistent with the 1.5mm reported at Bognor. The rain
was light and patchy in this area and some locations over and just
East of the Isle of Wight may have had no moderate rain at all.
The radar indicates that St Catherines point and Thorney Island would
have had rainfall amounts similar to Bognor; a quick check of
WeatherOnline indicates 24 hour totals of 0.8mm and 3.2mm
respectively. Shoreham was reported as 2.2mm, all in line with the
radar.
Thanks Dave ... we may therefore accept Bognor's monthly (to date)
total as well.
