still a lot of snow and ice on the ground but snow cover is
probably less than 50% now.

RMK: A thick morning with a steady thaw. Still a lot of snow
and ice but the snow cover is less than 25%. The ground is still
frozen hard.

RMK: Fog cleared around 1000z. For the remainder of the day
there was extensive high cloud and variable amounts of low
and middle cloud. A dry day with sunny intervals. There's been
quite a rapid thaw during the day. All ice has gone and the only
snow left is drifts in hollows and along the walls. Some of the
drifts are still a metre or more deep. Max temp 10.1C with
2.5 hours of sunshine.
