One question I have is why hasn’t the Arctic sea ice not melted away? Roughly speaking between 1980 and 2000 it lost 50% of its thickness. One would imagine it would have lost the remaining 50% by 2020.The reason may be that the surface water is now much fresher than before and freezes at a higher temperature. So thickness has decreased but the extent has held up.
