I want to be able to record outdoor temperature on my PC (and be able to
stick the temp on my website etc.) but I don't want to have to buy a
full weather station for £hundreds. I also have no way of mounting
anything as I'm in University accommodation, so have to make do with
dangling something out of my window (which conveniently enough is nearly
always in shade). Something that could connect to the serial port would
be ideal.

Does anyone have any ideas about what I could do? I could knock
something up myself as I have access to a soldering iron and whatnot,
but a premade option would be best.

I hope to be able to get something better when I move into my own house
eventually!
