Just spent half an hour looking at the situation on wetterzentrale and it
looks
like England and Wales could see a spell of very heavy and prolonged rain
midweek (especially wednesday) as a low deepens and moves slowly across.
As I
said in my forecast last thursday it still looks like any prolonged wintry
precipitation will be confined to the highest ground but with significant
snowfall in the Scottish highlands.
Earlier the lee/polar low development in the North Sea could give some
wintry
precipitation in eastern Britain on Monday night/Tuesday but on low ground
any
light falls should quickly melt.
The main significance still is much colder conditions for everyone, heavy
snow
in the Scottish mountains, heavy rain in England and Wales midweek and
*possibly* severe easterly gales getting into SW Britain at the end of the
week.
I would expect to see severe weather warnings issued for snow in the
Scottish
highlands and heavy rain in England and Wales (if/when appropriate !).
Cheers,
Will. (Local weather consultant :-) )
