Default Water shortages in the news also French forecasts?

I was wondering how long we were going to go without comment from the water
companies,, seems we are now being urged to conserve supplies.

Thunder and Lightning in Guildford - the above may have done the trick!

Accounts vary. In the Post Office in Godalming I heard a very heavy
thunderclap with a slight after-rumble. At home half a mile away, my
wife reported the single heavy thunderclap with impressive reverberation
round the hills afterwards. Lighting seen to the south. Traffic lights
failed and came on again stuck in our favour, but domestic supply
uninterrupted.

Rained heavily twice overnight, so I'm told.

A rude shock after a mostly warm week in and around Avignon [1]. We
could not find a source of forecasts on French TV, although the papers
seen later have a broad-brush small item. What did we miss?

I felt somewhat lost without familiar UK weather patterns. The hotelier
cheerfully announced 'no rain until Saturday' when it was raining
outside.

[1] Including buses which took schoolchildren home round the edge of
the Camargue. Which was chilly and intermittently wet.
